Several people asked me for the list of benefits or “pearls” of wisdom I mentioned in the message last week. Here they are to encourage and to strengthen you as you seek to apply the wisdom of the Lord to your life.

Ten Benefits – Pearls – of Wisdom

1. Perception. Wisdom gives us an accurate perception of life.
“Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.” Proverbs 2:9, 10

2. Prevention. Wisdom will prevent us from engaging in self-destructive behavior.
“Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men...” Proverbs 2:12
“It will save you also from the adulteress...” Proverbs 2:16
“Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.” Proverbs 3:23

3. Wisdom will Prolong our life.
“Keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years.” Proverbs 3:1,2
“This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:8
“Long life is in her right hand. ("her" refers to wisdom) Proverbs 3:16
“For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.” Proverbs 9:11

4. Peace. Wisdom brings peace of mind.
“Her ways ("her" refers to wisdom) are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.” Proverbs 3:17
“When you lie down, you will not be afraid. When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24

5. Prosperity.
“[Wisdom] will prolong your life many years, and bring you prosperity.” Proverbs 3:2
“Long life is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.” Proverbs 3:16

6. Poise. Wisdom gives us quiet confidence.

“Have no fear of sudden disaster...for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your feet from being snared.” Proverbs 3:26, 27

7. Protection. Wisdom will keep us safe.
“Do not forsake wisdom and she will protect you; love her and she will watch over you.” Proverbs 4:6

8. Precision. Wisdom gives us the ability to take the right number of steps, in the right direction, at the right pace.
“When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” Proverbs 4:12

9. Prudence. Wisdom gives us "caution," "discretion" or simply, "good sense." Wisdom helps you exercise caution when you need to exercise caution; it gives you the sense to hold back when you need to hold back.
“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence. I possess knowledge and discretion.” Proverbs 8:12

10. Wisdom Pays!
“If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you.” Proverbs 9:12

Peace, confidence, a longer life, prosperity, understanding, good sense, a sense of direction, a sense of protection, and on top of that, more rewards besides. Wisdom is worth having and the key to obtaining wisdom is to put God first in our lives.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Proverbs 9:10

We start on the path to wisdom by putting God first. The wisest thing we'll ever do is give God the place he deserves in our lives. When I say, "put God first", I mean specifically that we choose Jesus to be the Lord of our life. That is where the path to wisdom begins.

May the Lord bless you with the these “pearls of wisdom” as you put Him first in your life, seeking to know His Word and apply it to your life.
